Harlequin’s Humor

I thought I would talk a bit about my alias. Uh, no, I’m not wanted by the cops. At least not that I know of. I’m talking about my other pen name–Karen Anders. Yeah, it’s weird to be known by two different names and neither one is really your name. I’ve embraced Zoe, more because it’s a name I love. I don’t mind being known as Zoe. :-)

I’ve been writing for Harlequin Books for 18 years. I initially got in on the ground floor with Intimate Moments. But, I was one of those new just out of the gate authors and I struggled for five years to sell another book. When I did, I got in on the ground floor. I promise you I’m not afraid of the top floor. No vertigo here, but I was intrigued by the new line–Blaze. As a new author to this line, I got to define it and I think we all did a great job.

After missing my roots and what I loved to write, namely suspense, I went back to Intimate Moments, but by this time they had changed their name to Romantic Suspense. I’ve now written five books since coming back and am loving it. In 2011, I wanted to write a story set on an aircraft carrier and that opened up the way for my To Protect and Serve series (thanks to a suggestion by Senior Editor Patience Smith). I have just submitted another proposal for the continuation of this series with a mix of NCIS, Navy SEALs, former Force RECON Marines, and the Coast Guard.

Harper-Collins has now bought Harlequin and there have been changes there, but nothing that has felt really different. But because of the sale, their marketing folks are now doing a campaign to create awareness of the Harlequin brand. This brings me to the point of my post. The Harlequin humor. The videos below are wonderfully done, hilarious and engaging. I love the whole concept and laughed out loud. So, enjoy them. Pass them on and talk about them because they are a celebration of the very people who love to read romance.

My genre, my love, now my livelihood. Put a little humor and love into your lives each day. Pick up a romance novel.

I hope you enjoy the videos as much as I did. They certainly were good for a laugh!

My latest release for you to check out will be on Monday, June 29th. Come back to Hope Parish…My Outlaw trips return. This is the 7th book in my Hope Parish Novels series.

zwedding2Booker and Aubree are getting married. Being together with Booker has been difficult for Aubree with her studies and the demands of pre-med. Old doubts surface and wear on them both.
